Leap day!
I had dreams over doing a photo with the kids jumping, but with the rain and snow and rain and more rain we've gotten in the past 24 hours has things rather soggy and cold outside so SCRAP THAT!
Instead you get Wilbur kitty.

And even though he was goofing around, I really like this pose.

A couple of weeks ago, Carus started complaining about her eyesight being a little blurry far away. I made an appointment to get her eyes checked, and then I hemmed and hawed about her needing it because she seemed to be able to see okay except for the clock all the way across the room (which is small numbers so...??). She got her eyes checked and was given a very light prescription. Just a little bit more and she probably wouldn't have needed glasses at all. But she did, and if my eyesight and Adam's eyesight is any indication, she is going to need glasses for life (and maybe eventually contacts)(or if and when she decides to get Lasix as an adult).
We are fans of America's Best for their great service and prices. The only complaint is you have to wait for glasses and sometimes wait for contacts. (Except when you go in and they are all oh, we just ran out of boxes of your contacts and I'm all, but I need contacts, I'm going to Hawaii, and they're all here have 3 pairs of our free samples and I'm all SCORE!)
Anyways, we got her glasses picked out and ordered (two pairs, cause it is cheaper then getting just one pair) and waited for them to come in. Today we picked them up.
56:366 - I love them!
When we went in for Carus's exam we took a pair of Adam's that were broken to get them fixed. They couldn't fix them, and then we found out it how long it had been since his last exam (where does the time go!) so he got a check up and new glasses too. Adam has had glasses for a few years so it's not new for him, but this style is just a little bit different than what he has had. I love it too!

Not that it hasn't been fun, but uh, it hasn't been fun
Yesterday was long and I didn't get around to uploading this photo. Carus and I went for a little walk with the dogs around the yard and got some sun. It was very nice.
53:366
But if yesterday was long and exhausting, it was still nothing compared to today. Yesterday was just one of those days that never ended. Today it was one problem after another.
Adam missed the bus this morning and I took him to school. This isn't really a bad thing, I don't mind doing it. But doing it runs the risk of me getting back to be at work on time. I wouldn't be super late, but I'd be late and it's not good. I've figured out a route that helps me make the trip to and from Adam's school in about 25 minutes - which got me home today 5 minutes before I had to clock in. Problem saved.
I got home in time to find that my work computer decided to not load my profile, which isn't horrible and I can still work around it. It is just annoying and frustrating and a precursor to it crashing again (I've had this problem already before, so I know the drill). I did get it to load and started to work. I called IT to get it fixed since it crashing means I could be without a work computer for up to two weeks while they build me a new one. Not fun. IT called, they fixed it, but then all the settings and little things I have to help me work more efficiently were no longer there and getting them all set up took forever and yada yada. Not fun.
And then AND THEN! I think I'm finally able to get back to actually working and find my headphones aren't working. I did get them working and did get a little bit of work done today.
It could have been worse, I know. But it sucked and I was really done with the day pretty early on.
After work, I took the dogs for a walk with Geneva, which was nice. It started sprinkling right as we got back, but the sun was still out opposite the rain clouds so I went out looking for a rainbow - this was the best view of it.
54:366
Thank God, tomorrow is Friday.

All the girl scout cookies we had left...yes, had... Cause yes, I eated them. They was good.
Those were the only 2 Samoas I got (pout). I wish they weren't $4 a box...however, it's probably a good thing they are cause Somoas and Thin Mints are delicious.

Weekend round-up
48:366 - Friday night Carus and I went with some friend to Bingo Night at the elementary school.
49:366 - Playing with my Valentine roses.
50:366 - Inspired by a friend, I made some fruit water in the hope it will help me drink some more water. I've been struggling to drink enough every day. I put in orange, lemon, cucumber, and strawberry slices. It is really good!

This evening the kids and I did some light painting. The other day while at the grocery store, Carus found these little finger lights and she got them. There is a red, blue, and green one. I was excited for the possibility of doing this. They had lots of fun, and so did I.
This one is Adam running around the yard with all three. The shutter was open for 15 seconds.
Here's a slideshow of some more that we got. If you can't see the slideshow, click here to go to Flickr

42:366 and 43:366 - Kittens (not mine) and a Pug
My neighbor found some stray kittens this last week and after a couple days of feeding them she was able to coax them into a carrier and then brought them home.
They are very thin kitties, but seem healthy otherwise (per her vet). After a bath to remove the vegetable oil they were coated in, they are pretty fluffy too. (And now also smell better.) They are very friendly and loving. I was tempted to stick them in my pocket and bring them home. They would have fit.
I believe she is naming the orange one Roxy (a girl), and the black and white one Zag (a boy)(who has a little zag on the tip of his tail).
Don't they have AMAZING EYES!!! I hope I can snap a few more pictures of them. I am just in love with those eyes.

What the Meme?
Some bloggers I follow, Bethany and Jen both posted this meme and I thought it would be fun to play along too.
A. Age: 29. I turn 30 this year, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm excited for what my 30s will bring, but still HOLY SHIT, I'M TURNING 30!
B. Bed size: Queen. And it's finally feeling like a queen sized bed, now that Yoda has been moved to sleeping with Adam, Leia sleeps on her bed and the cats have discovered the heated blankets on the kids bed.
C. Chore that you hate: Cleaning the cat box. If I could teach them to use the toilet I would, but Simba would probably decide it was a new toy and I'd be mopping up toilet water all the damn time and Wilbur is a scaredy cat so I doubt I could get him near one so cat box it is...
D. Dogs: Two, Yoda (the pug) and Leia (the lab puppy).
E. Essential start to your day: Coffee. Strong with a little French vanilla Coffeemate creamer. OR white chocolate mocha, no whip from a coffeeshop.
F. Favorite color: I like all colors for the most part and my favorite color varies with my mood; however, I am rather partial to blues and reds.
G. Gold or Silver: White gold or silver
H. Height: 5’4″
I. Instruments you play: None... I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar, the piano, and the violin. Maybe one day.
J. Job title: Mom. Medical transcriptionist. Homeschooler.
K. Kids: Two (duh), Adam (13) and Carus (10).
L. Live: Portland metro area, Oregon
M. Mother’s name: Terye
N. Nicknames: Becca
O. Overnight hospital stays: Couple nights for when I had the kids, plus the week after Adam was born when he was in the NICU and about a week when he was 9 months when he had RSV. He seemed to always have a cold as a baby, which I think has been a good thing after all because he rarely gets sick now. He carries the germs home for the rest of us, but he doesn't get sick that much. Carus on the other hand, has always had a hard time with her colds where they totally knock her out, but has yet to get a bad bad one (as in requiring hospitalization bad).
P. Pet peeves: The improper use of the words there/their/they’re and your/you’re. The fact that my car does not have remote locks. (I didn't realize that would be so annoying, but holy hell it is. Can't wait for us to get the aftermarket remote lock installed.)
Q. Quote from a movie: "And Daddy, they took my boot." "Oh, those are the ones I bought you." (The only one I could think of that wasn't from The Princess Bride, who both Jen and Bethany used.) "Inconceivable!"
R. Right- or left-handed: Right.
S. Siblings: Three brothers (Bud, Peter, and Charlie).
T. Tastes you do not like: Black licorice, olives, mushrooms (though I think that might be more texture than taste).
U. Underwear: Yes.
V. Vegetable(s) you hate: Um... can't think of one. Can we just say olives and mushrooms?
W. What makes you run late: Waiting for others to go. Also, sometimes I misjudge how long it will take to get there/get ready.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: About a bazillion kajillion, although I’ve never officially broken a bone. I've also had some CTs and some ultrasounds not related to pregnancy.
Y. Yummy food that you make: Lots of stuff. I'm a pretty good cook, if I say so myself. And I do.
Z. Zoo animal: Lions, tigers, and bears. Ooohh mmyyy
Wanna play along? Add your link in the comments, ’cause I’d love to read it.

Be proud I didn't just twist off that cap and chug it. It was that kind of day/week.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. If you want to know that sort of thing about wine in mini cartons. I picked it up cause it was cute and I hadn't tried it before.
(I AM exaggerating about my drinking, if you didn't know me/can't tell my tone.)

40:366 Running with Leia
Let's go for a run with Leia. (Or more aptly, let's watch Leia run around the back yard.)
She's already been bouncing around.
She laughs at your attempt to keep up with her.
The tongue is coming out, she must be getting tired.
Hey Leia, are you done running?
"Pssha," she says. Of course she's not. (40:366)
Watch out or she'll run you over!
Maybe she's trying to get enough speed up to fly...
All done.... for now.

Raindrops on my windshield.
Pretty uninspired today. Today was the first day of rain we've had in about a week, and I miss the sun. I generally don't mind the rain, and do enjoy it a lot of the time (which is good cause hello, it rains a lot here) but I'm not feeling it right now. It's bumming me out.
The sun will be back, and probably soon. Just got to make it until then...

Weekend 366 and project update
35:366 - Saturday - A friend and I are doing a mystery quilt project with a local quilt shop (The Quilted Hill) and we headed out to Joann's to pick up fabric for the project and then out to the shop to get our first clue. I've never done a mystery quilt before and I'm pretty excited about it. A mystery quilt is a quilt pattern written in steps and revealed one part at a time to hide the final appearance of the finished quilt.
36:366 - Sunday - The fabric I'm using and the cutting for the first clue done. I have the rest of the month to do the piecing which should be great for my procrastination issue.
In other news, Robert got up the trim on the test window yesterday. He's not sure about it, but I like it. It's not finished, it needs painting (and will be painted in white).
