Reverb Broads

December's Project is.....

I've recently been wanting to do more writing here.  Be more of a blogger.  More of a writer.  And so to challenge myself I've joined a little group called Reverb Broads on Facebook, which is a group of bloggers sharing writing prompts, inspiration, and support.  It's a public group so if you would like to join in, just go to the public group page on Facebook (I linked it up there), like the page, and list your blog address to get started.

I don't want to commit to writing a post every day, or for every prompt, because I don't want to set myself up to fail, but I will do my best to write a few posts.

I'm going to start with the second day prompt:

What is the stupidest thing you did this year? What about in your whole life?

While I KNOW that there is probably a million things that I could write about for that for I am constantly embarrassing myself by being a klutz or speaking before thinking.  (I do that one a lot.)  There are only a few things that are coming to mind. Or, more realistically, only a couple of things coming to mind that I'm willing to share. Neither of which are from this year.  I didn't do anything embarrassing this year (*wink*).

1.  I peed my pants as a kid.

I know.  Big whoop, lots of kids pee their pants.  But I knew it was going to happen and I really didn't do anything to stop it.

I was in third grade, and my teacher separated the class into groups.  There was a reading group working with her, a reading group working on their own, and then a third group working independently at their desks.  I was in the third group. Before sitting down with her group, she told the class that she was not to be interrupted for any reason.  I found her scary.  And, possibly, I might have always had some issues with not wanting to make people mad.  Anyways, she didn't want to be interrupted and sounded very serious, so a bit later when I started dancing in my seat, I didn't interrupt her.  I didn't raise my hand.  More time passed and I still didn't raise my hand, and then I got to the point where I wet my pants.  In class.  In front of everyone.  After that instead of saying don't interrupt, she said, raise your hand.

2.  I ran into a sliding glass door.  Hard.

Robert and I were moving into our first apartment and some friends were helping.  My friends left to run to the store for something, or to a restaurant for food, something, and I thought of something to add to the order.  I went to run out onto the porch to holler at them before they drove off (they had parked in front of the building) through the sliding glass door that I had left open.  Except someone had closed it.  I hit that door at a light run and I hit it hard.

Robert happened to be coming around the corner at the same time that I hit the door and he said I bounced off of it.  The only thing I remember was being stunned that the door was closed and that I needed to sit down.  Next thing I know, Robert and my friends are crying from laughing. I wasn't hurt and the door wasn't hurt.  But I was embarrassed.

I wish I had better embarrassing stories to share...nahh, you don't need to know all of that.

  1. It is a family tradition to run into sliding glass doors. Aunt Donna, Aunt Elsie, Mom and I have all done that. Yes it is embarrassing but it is also the price of being brilliant. Sometimes genius is a real pain...
